Briefly About CAS
Conditional Access System (CAS) is a technology which is used to control access to Analog or digital television services to authorize viewers by encrypting the transmitted programming and is used for pay-TV services.
For viewers
In simplest terms Conditional Access gives the viewers, choice of channels they want to see. In other terms it means viewers only pays for what they see.
How does CAS works
The simplest possible manner the channels which have to be made viewable to the customer as per his choice are encoded (encrypted) from the cable TV control room. The viewer has a Set Top Box which can show him those encoded channels against specific authorization by the service provider on the request of the subscriber.

Consumer will be able to watch free to air channels by paying a fixed monthly rate even without Set Top Box as in conventional CATV System.
